Highland Square Neighborhood Association

_Mission Statement _

The Highland Square Neighborhood Association is a diverse community, unified in its efforts to enhance the quality of life for the people who live, work and visit Highland Square.

_Our History _

The Highland Square Neighborhood Association began as a coalition of citizens concerned with maintaining and enhancing Highland Square (HS) as a safe, desirable place to live and do business. We were committed to fostering HS as a cohesive community. Our goals were: protecting the physical character of the neighborhood and promoted development sensitive to the area, as well as building a strong, close-knit community of neighbors and friends through organized community events.
For the past three years, /Art in the Square/ (AITS) and /Holidays in the Square (HITS)/ have been very successful, bring out neighbors and attracting people form the greater Akron area.

_Our Future _

Building on the original premise, we are focusing on social revitalization as part of our on going investment in the future success of HS. We believe a healthy community includes all members of our neighborhood. Through community outreach programs like /The Highland Square United Block Watch Project/, a crime prevention through social change program,/ /and events like block parties, family fun nights, arts and multi-cultural experiences and children’s events along with AITS & HITS we can build a strong thriving community for all.

_Our Vision_

The Highland Square Neighborhood Association is a coalition of residents and business owners dedicated to support, promote, advance, and encourage the social and economic revitalization and the image of Highland Square as an economically vibrant, attractive and safe center for culture, entertainment, art, education, history, commerce, and residential use.
