- Protect and enhance the mix of building facades and diverse businesses
that characterize Highland Square.
- Protect and enhance the green space, landscaping and flowers and improve
the physical appearance of commercial areas.
- Protect and enhance the pedestrian character of Highland Square.
- Protect and enhance both the image of Highland Square as a desirable
neighborhood to live, work and shop in and continue to improve public safety
in the area.
- Protect and enhance the diversity of Highland Square, the strength of its
various communities and the ability of those communities to cooperate with
public and private leaders who make decisions impacting Highland Square.

| Progress Through Preservation (PTP) |
| Progress Through Preservation is a nonprofit organization whose goal is to raise the consciousness of preservation in Akron and Summit County by actively encouraging the preservation, maintenance, restoration, and adaptive reuse of buildings, sites, and neighborhoods that are of historic or architectural importance. Monthly meetings with guest speakers are held at various local historic sites. In addition to cooperating and participating with other community organizations and local governments, PTP recognizes our community's preservation efforts, sponsors conferences, tours and workshops, and publishes a monthly newsletter. |

| West Hill Neighborhood Organization (WHNO) |
|
Established as a nonprofit community organization in 1997, the West Hill Neighborhood Organization (WHNO) serves the area in numerous ways. In addition to its historic preservation work, the membership group publishes and distributes a quarterly newsletter, provides general neighborhood assistance, works closely with city agencies to improve neighborhood safety & investment, and promotes the area as a wonderful place to live. WHNO is dedicated to enhancing the quality and vitality of the West Hill/Highland Square neighborhood.
